Teaching-

This Sunday I went to Church Unlimited and also reviewed the verses from this day’s Mass.

From the Mass we read-

Psalm 25:12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

Psalm 25:13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 25:14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

This came from the Psalm for this Sunday.

From the gospel we read-

Mark 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Mark 1:16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

Mark 1:17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

Mark 1:18 And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

Mark 1:19 And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

Mark 1:20 And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

The calling of 4 of the apostles- they left their business [Fishermen]- which in the region of Galilee was one of the best jobs you could have.

Yet- they had to leave their worldly pursuits behind- if they wanted to follow Jesus.

From Church Unlimited we read of the temptation of Jesus by satan-

Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Matthew 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

Matthew 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Part of the temptation was to gain notoriety and success- by being disobedient to the plan of God.

I also quoted a verse on video- which my daughter found while we were talking-

Jeremiah 17:12 A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.

This scripture speaks of a ‘place’- or position that was destined for us- from the start.

But it does seem strange in a way ‘a glorious high throne’? [Some sites see here  https://corpuschristioutreachministries.blogspot.com/2022/08/sunday-sermon.html ]
